Personal Vision
5 Sessions: Thursdays, 2:30 – 5:00 pm, March 11 – April 8
The goal of this workshop is to create a coherent portfolio of at least 12 beautifully printed images. Digital photography provides us with countless tools to refine our images and express our personal visions, but this range of possibilities can also generate endless confusion. In the first session we will look at everyone’s work and begin the process of selecting images for a portfolio. There will be at least one technical session in which I demonstrate some Lightroom and Photoshop techniques that will maximize the potential of the images with a strong emphasis on workflow. The remaining classes will focus on composition, content and style. Participants will develop a project that prepares them for juried submissions and exhibition opportunities.
Pre-requisite: Lightroom and/or Photoshop experience and a basic knowledge of digital print making.
Creating a Photo Book
5 Sessions: Thursdays, 2:30 – 5:00 pm, April 15 – May 13
A well-made book is a pleasure. Self-publishing one or many copies has never been easier. Your book might be a travel journal, a commemoration of an event and/or a great gift. Professionally, a book can be used for self promotion or a portfolio review. Choosing the right images and sequencing them properly is the beginning, but the images also need to be edited differently if they are going to be printed on a commercial press. One of the best options for self-publishing is Blurb. Blurb provides free software and combines ease with quality and price. In this workshop we will be assembling the book from the ground up, choosing images, learning how to edit them and working with the Blurb software.
Pre-requisite: Lightroom and/or Photoshop experience.
